Pb Magazine regrets and records that Clóvis Augusto Cardoso Frey left us at the end of

October. Born in Catanduva, SP, he was a materials engineer from UFSCar and co-founded

the lead recycling company Frey & Stuchi in 1981, alongside his father-in-law, Mr. Alcides

Stuchi (in memoriam).

The company began in Catanduva and later moved to nearby Pindorama, to a much larger

site where it still operates today. Mr. Frey owned the company for 34 years before selling it in

2015 to the current owner, and it continues to be one of the largest lead recycling companies

in Brazil, now under the name Nappi Metais.

Mr. Frey was a highly active professional in both management and production, playing a

crucial role in the company’s development over the years. He supplied lead to nearly all

battery factories in the country and left an impactful legacy in the lead-acid battery market,

where he remains well-known and respected even after his retirement.

Those who worked with him and still remain with the company unanimously recall his

charisma, respect, and humanity.

Beyond his legacy and the memories left behind, Mr. Clóvis is survived by his wife, Mrs.

Silvia Stuchi Frey, his daughter Renata, and his grandsons Rafael and Augusto.
